Wayne Delos Knouff

April 17, 1929 — October 18, 2017

Wayne Knouff, 88, of Central Point passed away on October 18, 2017 at
Providence Hospital in Medford. Born in Rensselaer, Indiana to Clarence and
Christine (Shelley) Knouff, he had 12 brothers and sisters. Wayne was a beloved
husband, father, relative and friend to a large community. He was a hard worker,
a master of all trades and above all held God and his family in highest regard.
He started working at a young age as a baker's apprentice, plasterer, dry wall
installer and learned how to build houses while growing up in Rensselaer, Indiana.
He moved to Ashland, Oregon in 1962 and worked as a foreman at Lininger's pipe
plant. Wayne had six kids through a marriage with Mary Richards Knouff Strain
from 1950 to 1969.
Wayne enjoyed square dancing and in 1975 asked Verna Belrose if she would like
to dance, which she accepted and then proceeded to sweep him off his feet.
Verna had three sons from a previous marriage who Wayne considered to be his
own. After what Wayne described as a whirlwind courtship (of seven years)
Wayne and Verna were joined in marriage on a beautiful day, January 29, 1982.
Wayne was blessed with Verna who was a wife, friend and companion to him for
35 years.
Upon retirement from Lininger's after 29 years, Wayne followed his passion in
carpentry and partnered with his son and grandsons to build Knouff Homes. He
was a quality craftsman and especially liked to trim out houses and took pride in
finishing. Wayne and Verna lived in Rogue River for many years. A devoted
Catholic, he took great joy in the work he did contributing to the refurbishment of
Our Lady of the River Catholic Church in Rogue River.
Wayne is survived by his wife Verna; brothers, Bernard and his wife Francis, Roger
and his wife Helen; sisters Charlotte Faucher and Georgiana Reed; sons, David,
Richard (wife Terry), Mark (wife Laura), Jerry (wife Lisa), Dan (wife Terri)
Bourdeau, and Mark (wife Stephanie) Belrose; daughters Janet (husband Chip)
Ward, and Susan (husband Mark) Hall, 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews and their families living here in Oregon and
throughout the Midwest.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Christine; brothers Robert,
James, and Thomas; sisters Elizabeth, Mary Rowinski, Pauline Mullins, Bernadine
Strain Miller and his twin Virginia Schanlaub; son Tom Belrose and grandson
Gregory Ward
