Wallace Clyde Wilson, 87, of Trail, Ore., passed away on July 18, 2008 in Trail, Ore. No services will be held.
He was born March 29, 1921 in Enid, Okla., to parents, Truman Clyde and Florence Ruth Wilson. He graduated in 1939 from Elsinore Union High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Machinist Mate First Class. He served in the Battle of Pearl Harbor and several other battles in the South Pacific. After the war, he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve, where he was recalled to active duty to fight in the Korean War. He was a life member of the NRA, a life member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Oregon Chapter 3, a life member of Masonic Lodge #357 in Buena Park, Calif., and a life member of the American Legion, Post #98 in Grants Pass, Ore. He was also a 50-year member of the Plumbers Local Union #582 in Santa Ana, Calif., and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1833 in Medford.
He worked as a plumber in Southern California before moving to the Rogue Valley. He later retired as a plumbing inspector for Jackson County.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. In addition to his wife, Jean Byrne, Wallace is survived by his son, Steve Wilson, of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; his daughters, Kathy Collins, of Grass Valley, Calif., and Shari Brayall, of Orange, Calif.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
