October 1, 1917 — June 15, 2013

Vivian Nininger Passed away on June 15, 2013 at the age of 95. She was a resident of Oxford Gardens Senior Care Home in Ashland, Oregon. She was born in McLean County, Oklahoma and moved as a small child with her family to California, finally settling in Southern Oregon. She lived in Chiloquin and Fort Klamath before moving by herself as a high school junior to Ashland to finish high school. She met her husband, Logan Nininger, at the cafe
which his father owned. Vivian and Logan were friends of Angus Bowmer and his wife, and encouraged Angus to start the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She was featured in an article in the Ashland Daily Tidings several years ago, which highlighted her history with the Festival. She and Logan lived for 50 years in California, Vivian working as a bond agent and raising two children, before retuning to Ashland in her later life; she really loved Ashland and felt she was " home." She was a great fan of opera, classic films, creative writing, travel and photography. She will be greatly missed by her son Neil Nininger and daughter Nora Kruger, granddaughters Ellen Kruger and Cameo Mead and son-in-law Charles Kruger. She is also survived by her grandson-in-law Jack Mead, great granddaughter Olivia Mead, and several step-grandchilderen and step-great grand children. Private family interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford, OR. Donations may be made to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
