Virginia Anne Hausotter (Hunter)
June 30, 1932 — February 14, 2013
Virginia Hausotter was born in Medford, Ore. June 30, 1932. She grew up on the family farm where she learned the joy of hard work and the pride of doing every task with excellence.
Virginia was very gifted musically. Her violin became her primary instrument of expression which she played from her heart, bringing forth a wide range of rich full sounds. While in high school she played in some Oregon Shakespeare Festival plays, cut some records, and received a standing ovation at her graduation for Zieunerweisen (Gypsy Aires) by Pablo De Sarasate.
After attending Southern Oregon College and marrying Jack Hausotter, the couple moved to Roseburg. There Virginia was active in teaching and music at First Christian Church, in the Umpqua String Quartet, and was concert mistress for the Roseburg Orchestra.
After her children were grown, Virginia was the director and kindergarten teacher for the Sunnydale Christian preschool and kindergarten. Her students consistently tested top in their district and left her kindergarten with a joy for reading and learning.
Throughout her life, Virginia exhbited many of the qualities of the Proverbs 31 woman. She rose early and worked tirelessly to care for her family. She was kind, fair, and just. She was trustworthy, had absolute integrity, and strength of character that came from her deep faith in God. She intentionally planted both that love for God and a love for music in her family. Proverbs 31:28 states, "Her children rise up and call her blessed." And we do! We were so blessed to have such a wonderful mother!
Virginia is survived by her four daughters and their spouses: Lisa and Aaron Veach, of Central Point, Debra and Dan Norland, of Eugene, Ore., Sara and Gary Bailey, of Central Point, and Julia Hausotter, of Roseburg. She had seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her three younger siblings and their spouses: Carol and Willard Chapman, of Ashland, Joyce and Allan Morse, of San Bruno, Calif., and Robert and JoAnn Hunter, of Talent. She is also survived by a host of friends and former students.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford, 541-773-6162
