Sumner Gerard Stratton
Sumner Gerard Stratton, 82, of Medford, Ore., passed on Thursday, May 20, 2010. He was born in Arlington, Mass., on August 1, 1927 to Andrew and Emily Stratton.
He was in navy aviation in World War II from 1945-1947 and served in the Korean War as a lieutenant on the U.S.S. Forest Royal from 1952-1953. He graduated from Southwestern University earning a bachelor's of business administration, and from Boston University, earning a master's business administration. He retired as a college professor and moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989.
Sumner married Anna in Reno, Nev., on March 4, 1967. He is survived by wife, Anna; son, John Turner Menniti; daughters, Susie McGillivray and Maria Barron; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two sisters.
His interests included photography, reading and many other intellectual pursuits. He was a member of the NRA and the Medford Gun Club.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel.
