It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley A. Nelson on January 14, 2024. She was born on February 9, 1935 to William "Bill" and Wanda (Beck) White and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Shirley was a life long resident of The Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. She graduated Eagle Point High School class of 1953. She enjoyed reading, gardening and was an award winning billiards pool player aka "Grizz".
Shirley truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family. Shirley's life was marked by the love she shared and the countless memories created with her family. Her legacy will be remembered in the laughter, stories, and traditions that she shared with her loved ones.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Larry Nelson, son, Curtis Nelson, daughter, Nancy Nelson (Knight), and granddaughter, Shana McAllister. She is survived by her brother, William "Bill" White, daughter Lori Sutton, bonus son Roger Crandall, and grandchildren Corey Nelson, Ryan Williams, Amanda Hansen and Jackie Nelson and several great grandchildren who were a source of joy in her life.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Shirley was known for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering support for her family. She touched the hearts of those around her with her gentle spirit and caring nature.
In honoring Shirley's memory, the family will be planning a celebration of her life in the spring of 2024, to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Celia's House in Holmes Park or Access Building Community.
May she rest in peace, and may her memory continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
