Roger Lavere Young

Roger LaVere Young, 92, of Talent, Oregon passed Monday, February 14, 2011 at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. He was born January 10, 1919 in Riverton, IA. to George Riley & Hattie Blanche (Hubbard) Young. During WWII he enlisted into the Army, serving in the South Pacific.. Returning stateside he met and married Harriet Aileen (Whitney) Young on January 4, 1946 in Estherville, IA. who preceded him in death in 2006. After retiring in California he and Harriet moved to Sprague River, OR. His interests included caring for their rural property, hunting, and fishing. Not long after Harriet's passing Roger's health began to decline and he moved to the Rogue Valley to be closer to family. Survivors include his daughter Judy Henderson of Talent, OR., grandson Michael Williams, granddaughter Laurel Stevens, seven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Private family services are being held for both Roger and Harriet on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at 1:00PM. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford, OR.
