Robert was born in 1928 in San Francisco, California to Ernest and Louise (Goessi) Swingley. He never compromised his values and enjoyed a full and successful life. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war, graduated from Stanford University with a degree in economics in 1950, where he went on to earn an MBA. Robert was a business executive in San Francisco for more than 50 years. Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy D. (Stone) Swingley. He is survived by his four cherished children, Pamela Swingley, Douglas Swingley, David Swingley, and Susan Bernhardt; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Swingley) Beard and Denten Edwards; a stepgrandchild, Scott Orate and a step-great grandchild Jackson Orate; as well as his sister and brother-in-law Marjorie (Swingley) and Fred Lyte. Following a private service, the family will hold an open house on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 2:30 at the family home on the South Bank Chetco. Robert, with his children as the crew, built the cabin in the early 1970's as a sanctuary for the family to connect and rejuvenate. We invite friends of Bob, Nancy, Grandma Erma and all the kids to join us in sharing memories. Those who wish to make a donation in his name may do so to his alma mater, Lowell High School in San Francisco. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford, OR. are in care of arrangements.
