Robert H. "Bob" Allard

Bob passed away at the age of 92 on July 10, 2011. He was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on September 10, 1918 to Conrad and Irma Allard, the eldest of two sons. His brother, Arthur, preceded him in death. Jean, his wife of 52 years, and his sons Richard H. Allard, Forrest M. Allard, daughters Lynne A. Benton, Susan A. Calcagno, Patricia A. Gunderson and Julia A. McEwen, survive Bob. He leaves seven grandchildren Nathan R. Calcagno, Nolan R. Calcagno, Jasmin M. Albert, Kyle H. Allard, Kimberly A. Green, Arielle M. Allard and Ian C. Allard and two great grandsons Luke and Joseph Calcagno.
Bob graduated from the University of New Hampshire. He enlisted at the beginning of WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He flew fighter planes in North Africa and the Mediterranean Theatre, then in the Pacific, attaining the rank of Major.
Bob's career of 38 years was in the agricultural chemicals business in sales and marketing management. This employment took him and his family to several lovely areas of the West Coast, Bellevue, WA, Scottsdale, AZ, and Modesto, CA. Retirement was enjoyed in Alpine Meadows at Lake Tahoe, CA, then the Rogue Valley Manor in Medford, OR. He loved the outdoors and spent many years hiking and backpacking, skiing and photographing Sierra wildflowers. During high school and college he played tennis and ice hockey. His enjoyment of tennis continued on during his active life.
His love of the Lord was expressed in his involvement with varied ministries, Bible studies and leadership. His family credits him with the faith they have in our Lord Jesus Christ. He will always be remembered for his sweet smile, hearty laughter, kind, gentle spirit and loving devotion to his family.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Applegate Christian Fellowship, Jacksonville, Oregon on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Rogue Valley Manor Foundation or Asante Hospice. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford, Oregon are in care of arrangements. www.hillcrestmortuary.com
