Robert Samuel Ashenberner

February 17, 1925 — November 7, 2012

Robert S Ashenberner passed away November 7, 2012. He was born February 17,1925. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve of 65 years. She died July 30, 2009. Robert distinguished himself in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded; European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Bronze Service Arrowhead, Victory Medal, Parachutist's Badge and the Purple Heart.
Robert owned and operated Ashenberner Moulding Company, subsequently it was changed to Ashenberner Lumber C. Inc., then Southern Oregon Lumber. The company was started in 1960. Robert
retired and liquidated the operation in 2006. He enjoyed woodworking in his retirement.
Robert was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford, Oregon. Survivors include Robin Botting (Jim) of Los Angeles,California, Samuel Ashenberner (Dolores) of Beaverton, Oregon, Alan
Ashenberner (Susan Rossiter) of Portland, Oregon, Dave Ashenberner (Linda) of Medford, Oregon, and Cathy Ashenberner of San Diego, California. He has 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
His surviving siblings are William, Bud, Dorothy Henry, Clara Greene, Michael, and Richard. Deceased siblings: Russel, Melvin, Irene and Eddie.
A viewing will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel, 2201 N. Phoenix Rd., Medford, Oregon, on Sunday,
November 11, 2012, 11:00-3:00 pm. A funeral service with Military honors will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 2:00 pm at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, in Eagle Point, Oregon.
