H. Palmyra "Paula" Driver
Loving wife, mother and long time Sams Valley resident, Haleaka Palmyra "Paula" Driver died peacefully on May 5th at Providence Hospital in Medford, Oregon. She was 84.
The daughter of Frank A. and Mary Kalu Peterson, Paula was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She married Hugh E. Driver in 1941. They owned and operated Kalama Freight in Kailua, Hawaii before moving to Sams Valley, Oregon in 1964. She worked at Rogue Valley Medical Center and retired from 3M Company in the early 1990s. She was a member of the Hawaii Hui of Southern Oregon.
Paula's generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to her family and all those who knew her. She lived her life with integrity and Aloha.
Survivors include sons, Hugh (Jill) Driver and Robert (Cynthia) Driver; daughter, Charlene (Gordon) Elliot; daughter-in-law, Sandy Driver; brothers, Henry Peterson and Harold Peterson; sisters, Victoria Yasuda, Goldie Bee, and Bette Jane Roberson; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, stepson, A. Theodore "Ted" Driver, four brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at Living Praise Church, 115 Gibbon Road in Central Point. The service will be conducted by her brother, Senior Deacon Henry Peterson of Honomu, Hawaii. Reception to follow.
