Nancy Ann Sherwood

March 18, 1947 — December 31, 2023

Nancy Jeffers Sherwood (Fancy Nancy, Squirrel Whisperer, Grandmama) was born March 18,
1947. At 76 years old she passed peacefully in Medford, Oregon with her husband of 44 years,
Don R. Sherwood by her side. December 31, 2023 is the day she traded in her injured lungs for
a pair of perfect angel wings. She lived big and left us on the big day of New Years Eve.

Nancy was the first child of Joe and Rosemarie (Nicki) Jeffers of Gardena, California. Nancy
spent the majority of her life in the South Bay of California, graduated from Bishop
Montgomery High School and El Camino College with a business degree.

As a child and into her 30s her family spent summers and some winters in North Bloomfield,
Ca. This is where she rode horses, dirt bikes, swam in the Blair, learned to shoot, experienced
red dirt back roads and regularly made her famous "apple crisp" happily when someone would
peel the apples for her. Her love of the back road adventures in a yellow Willy's Jeep proved to
be infectious as her daughter still explores dirt roads regularly and looks for treasures.
Nancy was a mother to Richelle Leigh Silagy White and Joseph David Silagy. The perfect
combination one girl and one boy completed her aspiration for children.

Nancy had varied careers, a collection of passions and pursuits. She found a use for all those
careers and passions and shared them with all, Nancy knew no strangers.
Nancy was a master of what came her way career speaking . She was known for
bookkeeping, managing a credit union and soaring high in the Jafra Cosmetics Co. She will be
remembered by "under estimate me, that will be fun".

She married Don Sherwood in 1979 and together they grew her love and learning for
HISTORY. Today he still describes her as "a beautiful blue eyed curly haired women he fell in
love with 45 years ago". Their devotion to history lead her to collect items that she loved and
found historically important. Nancy and Don traveled over 250,000 miles using 3 different
motorhomes, they traveled twice to Russia and she regularly went to England. She felt most at
home in England and aspired to have her "own flat" there. This "spunky" lady had stories
galore about her travels and the people she met and became close friends with over the years.
To illustrate her passion for history, she had several historical collections and this gave her
husband ENDLESS possibilities for gifting. Antique Jewelry, the 1851 Crystal Palace Exhibition,
Faberge, Russian Arts, antique scales and vintage safes were known collections. Let us not
forget all the photo albums she kept to document family history, her rubber ducky collection,
31 Flavors and Dodger baseball memorabilia.

She found a use for all these historical passions and collections. She had been called upon
many times to lecture in educational classrooms and groups. In passing, a wish of hers is to
have some of her antique jewelry collection submitted to the Victoria and Albert Museum and
the British Historical Museum both in London. You are likely see her collectibles in the Crystal
Palace Museum also in London. Baltimore his home to the Walters Art Museum another place
you are likely to view her historical finds. Dedicating the pieces in her name domestically and
abroad are events her family is committed to make that happen.

She expressed her passion for 31 flavors by making a corporate training film, visiting many 31
flavors in other countries and feeding her 3 grandsons their first bite of ice cream. The tradition
of "taking the first bite" of 31 Flavors has continued with her Great Grandson, Barrett who had
his first bite at 7 months old.

Christmas! To know Nancy meant you knew she did Christmas to the maximum. Up to 3
Christmas trees fully decorated, supreme lighting, vintage Santas, sleighs, and yearly caroling
parties. Her friends and family almost always have a memory to share about the tradition of an
old fashioned hay ride caroling outing through downtown Torrance, California. One year there
was a prize given to anyone that could guess how many Santas were in the house.

Her love of history and animals led her and Don to build a Victorian inspired house in Shady
Cove, Oregon in 2006 upon retirement. The land has family history and every item in that home
displays her love of history, learning and collecting. The geese, hummingbirds, squirrels, blue
jays, pigeons and deer was what she studied later in life from her floor to ceiling windows
overlooking the Rogue River.

She often said "she suffered in silence" and if you knew her, that would make you laugh out
loud.

At 5 foot tall, incredibly beautiful and passionate woman she certainly made a difference in this
world and created memories for all who crossed her path.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father Joe Jeffers, Grandparents Jessie Jean Jeffers and
Joseph Jeffers, and an extensive family bearing the surname Ulibarri.

Nancy is survived by her husband Don R Sherwood, her mother Rosemarie Ulibarri Jeffers, Her
Brother Daniel Jeffers, niece Valeria Jeffers, her Children Richelle Silagy White and Joseph
David Silagy, her grand children Braxton White, Trevor White, Parker White and her Great
Grandsons Barrett Ridge White and Crue Anthony White.
