Columbus Monroe Lemacks

December 6, 1927 — June 19, 2019

Columbus Monroe Lemacks, of Medford Oregon passed away on Wednesday, June 19th 2019. Lee was always a modest man, but a visit to Watlerboro SC, in 2013 to visit his older sister Reatha and younger brother Pete after a greater than 50 year separation, revealed that he came from a rather prominent family.  Daughters of his late sister Naomi still live in the area.  There is a street named after the Lemacks family where decades ago Tuskegee Airmen walked and resided on N. Lemacks street.

Lee joined the Navy at the age of seventeen, and married his wife Joan in 1946, who proceeded him in death in 2014.  They moved to Southern Oregon in 1955 where they raised four children.  Lee has seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

His life was about his family and community.   His knowledge of heavy equipment and welding was vast,  helping to keep the heavy equipment working when Interstate I- 5 was being built over the Siskyou mountain range.  Lee retired from the Ashland Road Maintenance Dept.
