Michael Szpak, age 86, of White City, Oregon, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, with family by his side. He was born November 2, 1925 in Orange, Conn.
An Army veteran of WWII, he moved to Oregon five years after his discharge in 1950. He worked in the lumber industry for 40 years. Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Cooper; brother, Andrew; and sisters, Mary and Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife, Adriana Szpak of White City, Ore.; sons, Ron (Sharon) Szpak, of Mt. Holly, N.C., Kent (Sally) Szpak, of Medford, Ore., Jerry (Donna) Szpak, of Grants Pass, Ore.; daughter, Lori (John) Cooper, of West Columbia, Texas; brothers, John and Frank Szpak, of Ansonia,Conn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest with services in the Hillcrest Memorial Park mausoleum on Friday, March 9,2012. A memorial service will follow at the First Church of The Nazarene, 1974 E. McAndrews Rd., Medford, Oregon.
