Melvin Aaron Harsh, 71, of El Paso, TX. passed Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 in El Paso. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Central Point. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM till 1:00 PM on Wednesday. Graveside services with military homors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. Melvin was born Oct. 7, 1936 in Greeley, CO. In 1962 he married Carolyn Jo Hunt who survives. He came to the RogueValley in 1946 and graduated Central Point High School in 1956. He served in the US Marine Corps. Was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Central Point. He worked for the Orange City Fire Dept. for 22 years. Melvin enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and collecting baseball cards. He was the Commander of the Central Point VFW. Survivors in addition to Carolyn include their children; daughter Terri Harsh of LasVegas, NV., daughter Brenda Ortiz of Eugene, OR., son David Harsh of Las Vegas, NV., daughter Kelly Jacoby of Eagle Point, OR and daughter Tammy Hayson of El Paso, TX. two brothers; Douglas Harsh of Denver, CO., and Dwight Harsh of Central Point, OR., asister Cathleen Godfrey of Central Point, OR., 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
