Linda Marie Messal was born May 30, 1949, and on December 14, 2019, all the cats in Heaven began purring loudly as she went to join her loved ones. Linda was born in Chehalis, Washington, to Gladys Florence (Seifert) Cox and Lawrence W. Messal. She was raised in the Rogue Valley and was descended from pioneer stock from Eagle Point and Lake Creek.
She attended Medford Senior High School Class of 1967 and graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in 1971 from the University of Oregon. She was a Medical Technician at OHSU for over 30 years before retiring. She encouraged education as a priority at any level chosen and loved a good debate. She was dogged about taking and defending her position.
She returned to Medford to her childhood home where she was a loving caregiver to her mother. Linda was an Honor Student, a Past Honored Queen of Job's Daughters Bethel #55, a softball, baseball and football fan and a generous lifetime donor to many charities. She loved her three cats, Scamp, Doodles, and Mercury. Hobbies included travel and photography which meshed well. She inherited a green thumb from her mother, managed her own large green house and raised vegetables for family, friends and neighbors.
Family was of utmost importance in her life, whether working on crafts, solving Sudoku, doing jig saw puzzles, riding dune buggies, or attending traditional holiday functions and family reunions. She was affectionately known to many as "Auntie Linda". Her many friends admired her commitment to loving relationships and the ability to make connections. Known for her quirky and witty sense of humor, her smile lit up the room and her laughter was contagious.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Florence (Seifert) Cox and Lawrence W. Messal, and her sister, Judy Klinzing. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Stuart, nieces , Lisa (Robert) Dubois, Brenda (Vince) Baldovino, Cindy (Tharon) Bales, and Kimm Cluck, nephew Dan (Kim) Dumore, grand nieces and nephews and several cousins.
