Lillian "Ruth" Fowlkes

April 15, 1925 — October 10, 2011

Lillian R. Fowlkes said her goodbyes to this world on October 10, 2011. Ruthie's love and inner beauty will truly be missed by all those whose lives she had touched. She was such a wonderful person. Ruth was born April 15, 1925, in Tombstone, Ariz., to Charlie and Mildred Bachelder, and had two older sisters, Georgia and Charlene. Ruth's family then moved to Imperial, Calif, where she grew up and met the love of her life and future husband of 65 years, Roland Fowlkes. Ruth and Roland would then spend the next 20 years of his military career seeing the world. In 1964, Ruth and Roland moved to Medford, Ore., and finished raising their family. Ruth was a room mother, PTA president, a cub scout leader, and spent 12 years in the Medford National little League, supporting an untold number of children in their favorite pastime. Ruthie also enjoyed knitting blankets for the newborn babies in the hospital. When it came to others, Ruthie always shown like a beacon in the night; she always gave so much of her self to everybody. Ruth had three children, Roxanne (deceased), Roger, and Paula; and three grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, and Cameron. There will be an open casket viewing on Monday, October 17, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2201 N, Phoenix Rd., Medford, Ore.
