Layton L. Hoback, 89, of Grants Pass, OR.(formerly Medford) passed Saturday, May 2, 2009 at his home. He was born Aug. 25, 1919 in Russellville, MO. to Herbert I. & Lola M.(Cook) Hoback. In 1941 in Montebella, CA. he married Cordelia Dummermuth who survives. They came to Oregon from Missouri in 1946 and then on to Medford in 1964. Layton was a well known and respected the woodworker and carpenter. He was instrumental in the addition and remodel of the old Medford Clinic and made most of the cabinets. His handy work can still be seen today in the large oak chairs in the Masonic and Scottish Rite Lodges. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Blue Lodge since 1953, Scottish Rite and Shriners. He served and was honorably discharged from the US Army. Layton enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. In addition to Cordelia he is survived by a son Kenneth Hoback of Cave Junction, OR., two grandsons Noel Hoback and Shawn Hoback and four great grand daughters. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday May 6, 2009 at the Hillcrest Chapel, 2201 N. Phoenix Rd., Medford, OR. Visitation will be from 1:00PM - 1:45PM prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford, OR. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary in care of arrangements.
