LaVerne McLain, 92, passed away in Bend, Ore. January 28, 2013. She was born February 2, 1920, in San Bernardino, Calif. to Ester and Ben Edwards. She grew up and attended school in San Bernardino and moved to Oregon when she married in 1945.
LaVerne's careers included medical records and Veterans Administration payroll. During her life she lived in San Bernardino as well as in Troutdale, Portland, Salem, Medford, and Central Point while in Oregon. She also lived in Prescott, Ariz. where she retired from the Veterans Administration.
Wherever she resided she was an active member of her local church. She also was active in Amaranth, Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile Masonic organizations. LaVerne also loved to travel and enjoyed visiting Alaska, Australia, Hawaii, Panama Canal, and Scotland following her retirement. She also enjoyed flying to Flying Tiger Airline reunions and Quiet Birdman meetings with her husband, Roy.
Survivors include her son, Donald Bramhall of Bend, Ore.; and her daughter, Cheryl Kendrick, of Frisco, Texas. She has two grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, LaVonne Wing; and three husbands, Kenneth Bramhall, Jack Stapleton, and Roy McLain.
Visitation will be from 3:00 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m Tuesday, February 5, 2013.
