Keith Sherwood Keith Sherwood, 93,of Medford, Ore., passed away January 7, 2011. He was born in Barber, Mont., in November 3, 1917, to Howard Sherwood and Mary Sherwood ne Currie.
When he was five years old, he moved to Snoqualmie, Wash., where he graduated high school and met his wife, Artie. They were married in Seattle in April 1942. He enlisted in the Army, and served four years in the South Pacific during WWII.
After WWII, he joined Manning's Restaurants in Seattle as a management trainee, and he and Artie started their family. In 1955, he moved his family to Eugene, Ore., to join a restaurant partnership in Stanley's Restaurants. In 1968, the partnership was discontinued and Keith purchased the remaining Stanley's Restaurant in Medford, which he operated until his retirement in 1975.
Keith took great pleasure from being a member of the Hillah Shrine Temple in Ashland, the Scottish Rite of Medford, Ore. and Masonic Lodge of North Bend, Wash. After his retirement, he traveled with his wife and local friends, enjoying golf and exploring the western U.S. When he was home, he was an avid volunteer, delivering meals for the Senior Food for Friends program and assisting Access Inc., by running their central kitchen. He also served as a board member for Access Inc. for several years and a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church in Phoenix.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Artie Sherwood, in 1996. He is survived by son, Dennis Sherwood; daughter, Vicki Rahal; grandchildren, Karli Blaydes, Tara McCullough; great-grandchildren, Colin and Owen Blaydes.
A family memorial service was held January 10, 2011. A family and friends graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Access, Inc., P.O.
