Jerry G. Fitzgerald, 75, of Rogue River, OR passed Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 at his home. He was born March 16, 1944 to parents John Hollis Fitzgerald & Beulah Shipp (Hill). At a young age, his family moved from Elk City, OK to Ashland where he grew up and finished school. He married Joan Weber and they had two children. In 1988 he was remarried to Shawnee C. Fitzgerald, who survives. Jerry had worked in the plywood industry as a veneer puller, grader, and a Raymond operator for Medco and later for Swanson. Jerry enjoyed fishing, gardening, his yard ornament collection, trips to 7 Feathers, time with his friends and family, dining out, interacting with community members, and caring for his precious dog, Baby. He earned a black belt in Judo/Jujitsu and later instructed youth in the art. He was a proud member and an active sponsor in AA. He also served in a fatherly role to several of his son’s friends.
Survivors in addition to Shawnee include: His children; son Matthew (Rebecca) Fitzgerald of Woodinville, WA and daughter Tracy (Jim) Smoot of Huntley, IL, a sister Lela (Ray) Miller of Roseburg, step-children, Siegfried and Shiela Aseo, grandchildren; Jacob, Kayla, McKenna, Kyle, Kassady, Jena, Ryan, Peyton, as well as his nephews - the Miller boys; Ken, Bob, Mike and Ron, and many other family members and friends. Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 at the Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, 2201 N. Phoenix Rd, Medford, OR 97501. Jerry will later be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
