James William McMeen
James W. McMeen, 85, of Medford, OR passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011 while a resident of Avamere at Three Fountains, the day after celebrating his 64th Wedding Anniversary with his wife and family.
He was born July 1,1926 in Powell Butte, OR to Bruce and Helen McMeen. He served in the U.S. Army out of high school in the Philippines and occupied Japan during World War II.
He married Marion Merz who survives, on July 13,1947 in Prineville, OR.
Bill began his working career as an Oregon State Trooper. His first assignment was in Arlington, 0R. and then he was transferred to Medford in 1956. He worked as a trooper for 17 years. He next worked for Southern Oregon Credit Service. He finished his working career as a bailiff for the Circuit Court of Jackson County.
Survivors in addition to Marion include daughter Mary (Bud) Clark of Medford, son Jim (Sharon) McMeen of Central Point, and daughter Kathy McMeen of Medford. Four grandchildren also survive: Shawn Clark, Brian McMeen, Michelle Henson, Carie Hollingsworth, and four great grandchildren Brandon, Blake, Makayla, and Asher. His parents, Bruce and Helen, his only sister, Eunice Roberts, and his grandsons: Chad Clark and Aaron McMeen, preceded him in death.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2201 N. Phoenix Rd., Medford, OR. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to a charity of your choice.
