Hildegard Elizabeth Bandy quietly passed into eternal peace with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 9, 2015, in her home at Brookdale-Medford. Hilde was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 25, 1930 to Max and Elizabeth Hoeme, who preceded her in death. Graduating from Luther High in Chicago, she worked for many years as a secretary in the corporate offices of the Mars Candy Co. Her older sister, Ruth, relocated to Oregon, marrying Morris Curtis and settling in Eagle Point, where she still resides.
In 1970, Ruth introduced Hilde to a fellow member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (Central Point), Dencil "Cotton" Bandy. They subsequently married on September 9, 1970 in Chicago and Hilde relocated to Medford. The couple made their home on Springbrook Avenue, before "moving into town" on Grand Avenue.
Hilde was active in her church, Gloria Dei, where she had many dear friends. She looked forward to lunches with her girlfriends at area restaurants after Sunday services. Cotton relished her excellent German cooking.
Hilde will be missed by her friends and family but we rejoice that she is at home in the presence of the Lord. Hilde is survived by her loving husband, Dencil Bandy of Medford; sister Ruth Curtis of Eagle Point; and step-children Beth Faulkner of Puyallup, WA, George Bandy of Baja, MX, Donna Lewis of Fallon, NV, and Del Bandy of Medford.
Visitation will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Friday, July 17, 9:00am - 10:30am, followed by a graveside service at 11:00am. A memorial service to celebrate Hilde's life in Christ will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 745 N 10th St., Central Point, on Saturday, July 18 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Herbert Percy, Jr. officiating.
