Harriet P. Scarpulla, 92, of Durham, New Hampshire died on August 16, 2007 in Medford, Oregon from an injury sustained while traveling. She was the daughter of the late Norman K. and Louisa B. Putnam of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Harriet was born in Nazareth, Pennsylvania and grew up in Bethlehem. She was a graduate of Moravian Seminary, Bethlehem Business School, and Harcum Junior College. In 1940, she married Norman C. Scarpulla, and for many years they lived in Staten Island, New York. After Mr. Scarpulla died in 1958, she moved to Durham in 1960.
Harriet enjoyed playing bridge with friends, watching baseball, reading, and traveling with her friend in Oregon, Alaska, and the West.
She is survived by her son, Norman K. Scarpulla and his wife, Suzanne of Andover, Massachusetts; grandson Michael Scarpulla and his wife Laura of Santa Barbara, California; grandson Stephen Scarpulla of Andover; and nephew Randall Putnam and his family of Burnt Hills, New York.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 21 at 1:00 pm at St. George's Church, Durham. Burial of ashes will be later at Nisky Hill Cemetery in Bethlehem.
