George Donald Payant
George Donald Payant, 55, of Medford, Ore., passed away unexpctedly at Fish Lake while on a family outing Saturday, July 3, 2010. He was born March 25, 1955, in McMinnville, Ore., to George and Carrie (Bradbury) Payant. George moved to the Rogue Valley when he was two years old from Grand Ronde, Ore.
On December 6, 1974, George married Mary Helen Holte. He worked as a vocational counselor for the Oregon Employment Department for 24 years before retiring in 2003. He enjoyed fishing, bow hunting, golf and was a past soccer coach.
Survivors include wife, Mary Helen Holte-Payant; son, George Paul Payant, of White City, Ore.; daughter, Jennifer Margaret Mohatt, of Talent Ore.; sisters, Patricia Stevens, of Talent, Ore., and Janeen Snopl, of Gold Hill, Ore.; and grandchildren, Michael George Payant and Maizie Lynne Mohatt.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel, Medford, Ore. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, in care of the arrangments, 541-773-6162, www.hillcrestmortuary.com
