Memorial services were held for George M. Carr at the Anna Maria Creekside Retirement Home (822 Golf View Drive, Medford) on Friday, August 17, 2012. George passed away in Medford on Monday, August 13, 2012 from natural causes. He was born in Medford, Oregon on October 26, 1929 to Lester and Ethel Alford Carr. His family were Jackson County pioneers, arriving in the valley in 1852. On June 28, 1952, he married Sherrod Marie Humphries, his wife of 60 years. George served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a military policeman. He had numerous careers during his life, including a property management business that he owned and operated with his wife. He also was a licensed real estate broker, a salesman and part owner of a wholesale electronics supply company and a mill worker. He retired several times before settling into full retirement with Sherrod in about 1999 in the home that they built on his family's century farm on Payne Road in Phoenix, Oregon. He was a long-time member of the Medford Elks Lodge.
He is survived by Sherrod; his children, Sharon Hewitt (Henry) and Richard Carr (Jeanne); his grandchildren, Adam Hewitt (Elizabeth Weiss), Laura Sparks (Andrew), Joi Pinckney and Denis Carr; his brother Robert Carr and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother David Carr. Remembrances are suggested to the Dogs for the Deaf or a charity of your choice.
