Erika Rinderknecht-Haisch was born July 25, 1938 near Stuttgart, Germany. She shared a happy childhood with her six siblings. She began her three year apprenticeship at a bank at 14 and continued in that position until she was 23.
In this period of time Erika made her most important decision. She came to know Jesus Christ. Her deep faith in Jesus, His birth, His death on the cross and His resurrection became the determining factor of her life.
Through her friend and later sister-in-law, Erika met her husband Hans. They married in
1961 and moved to Sunnyvale, CA. There they were blessed with their daughter Patricia
and son Thomas. They formed many good and lasting friendships at their church.
In 1970 the family moved to Oregon where they purchased a farm and Hans built a house. Happy and busy years followed with farming and Hans' masonry business. Erika tended her garden and flowers with dedication. Flowers were her joy and were blooming outside her window until she passed.
In the early 80's Hans unexpectedly became ill and passed away. This was a great loss for the family. Erika stayed on the farm for a number of years, but eventually moved into town. Patty, with Justin and Matthew and Thomas and Roberta, with Joshua and Sarah were a great joy to her.
After various difficult symptoms, she was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2008. Weakness and pain followed but through it all, she trusted her Saviour. She knew that in life or death she belonged to Jesus.
