Emma Jane Kirkendall, 84, of Central Point, Ore., passed away at her home Friday, July 8, 2009. A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 2201 N. Phoenix Rd, Medford, Ore., from 3-7:00 p.m. There will also be a brief viewing on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 12-12:50 p.m. prior to the service which will be held graveside at 1:00 p.m.
Emma was born Jan. 19, 1925 in Grant City, Mo., to Zelma Marie Patee and Detlef H. Patee. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1956 from North Bend, Ore. Emma married Sylvester Raymond "Ray" Kirkendall in Coquille, Ore., on Oct. 9, 1944.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; and two brothers. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Detlef and Kenna Kirkendall, of Summerlake, Ore.; daughter, Linda Ray, of Central Point, Ore.; two sisters; two brothers; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
