Emily Crist

November 21, 1928 — July 3, 2013

Emily A. Crist, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at her home in Medford, Ore. she was born November 21, 1928 in Bakersfield, Calif, to Anna and Frank Alexis Jr. She married Ross H. Crist who preceded her in death in June, 2011.
Surviving are her two daughters; son; three granddaughters; one grandson; three great-granddaughters; and two great grandsons.
Emily was well-known as "The Flower Lady" in the neighborhood where she delivered hundreds of creatively designed bouquets of roses and other flowers from her yard to two local hospital reception desks, local restaurants, banks, and other businesses and private parties who wanted them. She also grew a garden every year and planted several fruit trees, other bushes, and plants. She was an avid gardener and loved her roses. She grafted her own fruit trees. started new roses, and grew flowers from seeds saved from the year before.
She was an energetic multi-tasker, passionately enjoyed and completed nearly 200 braided rugs which she gave away to friends and acquaintances, created numerous cement fountains, walkways, rock walls, and two swimming pools over the years. She worked at a bank and in a senior care center. She baked and cooked, was an artist, a homemaker, loved her horses, cats (she is also survived by her cat, Sassy, who misses her so much), dogs, dancing, and listing to music. She and Ross received a Certificate of Appreciation in 2008 from the Medford Police Department for their generous donation and support of the Medford Police Bike Patrol Unit. They also donated on a regular basis to C.A.T.S ( spay and neuter cat program).
She loved to listen to Andre Ricu DVDs and watch Lawrence Welk reruns on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. She followed a strict diet regime of good nutrition, ate fresh fruit and vegetables from her own garden, and used no sprays.
There will be no service per Emily's wishes. You may visit the gravesite to pay you respects. Emily will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park in the veteran's section with her deceased sweetheart husband, Ross Crist.
