Debra Jean Johnson passed away on June 30, 2008, at her home with her husband by her side. She was born in Long Beach, Calif., on April 13, 1951, to Richard L. Kerr and Marjorie Summerville Kerr. She married Robert W. Johnson on July 9, 1976, in the Los Angeles LDS temple. The have lived in Medford, Ore., for 21 years.
Debra received a Bachelors of Science degree in Microbiology from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, in 1974, and worked as a Medical Technologist for a few years until she became a full time stay-at home mom and homemaker. She loved her six children and husband with great devotion and shared her love with all those around her including extended family and friends. One of her greatest joys in life was to see her children grow up in the gospel of Jesus Christ and she looked forward to every grandchild that was added to her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities in the Church, including President of the women's Relief Society of her ward, the local congregation, and the Relief Society President for the Stake, the larger, multi-ward organization. Her life was one of giving service and love.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robbie; and her father, Richard.
She is survived by her mother, Marjorie; husband, Robert; daughters, Jennifer Coffey, of San Diego, Calif., Heather Johnson, of Portland, Ore., Amber Nehring, of Albuquerque, N.M.; sons, Ryan Johnson, of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; Kenny Johnson, of Medford, Ore.; five grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
A viewing will be on Sunday, July 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 2201 N. Phoenix Rd., Medford, OR. The funeral service will be Monday, July 7, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2900 Juanipero Way, Medford, OR.
