October 21, 1939 — November 26, 2007

Darla J. Borns
Darla J. Borns, 68, our cherished wife and mother went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ peacefully at home after a lengthy struggle with ALS on November 26, 2007.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007, at South Valley Church, 4812 South Pacific Hwy. Phoenix, Ore.
Darla was born October 21, 1939, in Watertown, S.D., and graduated from Watertown High School. She married Donald Borns on June 7, 1958, and moved west to Medford. Darla and Don celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary last June.
Darla loved her job as a grocery checker for Sherm Olsrud, whom she called "the best boss ever" at Food 4 Less. She retired in 2001 after 31 years with Sherm. She enjoyed her customers and loved that they shared their lives with her.
She spent much of her free time working on her oil paintings. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed working with stained glass, as well as many other hobbies. She loved the challenge of exploring her artistic talent with many crafts. She loved and valued her time at her church and with her women's Bible study group.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband. She treasured their many cruises and especially their trip to Rome, Italy. She loved her yearly trips with "the girls."
Along with her husband Don, she is survived by three daughters, Dawn Borns, of Medford, Kristi Kelly (Lance) of Medford, Penny Garibay (Art) of Hollister, Calif.; her sister, Connie Campos, of Myrtle Creek; seven grandchildren, Annie Gairson, Holly Campbell, Joey Hagler, Karly Kelly, Austin Kelly, Joshua Garibay, Christina Garibay; and one great-granddaughter, Kamryn Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Helen Yocom; and younger brother, Johnny Yocom.
Darla left behind many great friends and wonderful memories. Her strength, dedication, and loyalty will forever be remembered and treasured. She will truly be missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The ALS Association, at 301 S.W. Fourth Avenue, Suite 630, Portland, OR 97204.
