Dallas V. Marcy, born April 18, 1933 in Alliance, Neb. passed away in his sleep at his home in Jacksonville, Ore, the morning of October 25, 201 5. his wife of 36 years, Dorothy Marcy; his daughter and son-in-law, Kate and Monte Seus; and his granddaughter and husband, Kate and Daniel Muvdi were at his side. Dallas had been fighting Lewy Body disease for six years.
Dallas was the son of the late Donald and Faye Marcy. Dallas was the youngest of four sons: George Marcy of Georgetown, Texas; Donald Marcy of Olympia, Washington; and Dale Marcy (deceased). Because he was the youngest brother, he was lovingly given the nickname of "The Pup".
After graduating from high school in Prosser, Wash. in 1951, he joined the Navy and served four years at Alameda Naval Air Station. He then signed up with the Air Force in 1955. Serving 16 years with this military branch, he retired as Master Sergeant Marcy. electronics specialist, at Selfridge AFB, Michigan. Dallas became a key electronics engineer for the maintenance of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird aircraft while in the Air Force. Dallas and Dorothv began and developed a vending business, Southern Oregon Vending.
As a result of the skills learned in the military, Dallas could repair any vending machine. In fact, Dallas could fix or build anything. he was a "jack-of-all-trades". Dallas was a sergeant at arms with the Central Point Rotary and received the Paul Harris Fellow award. Dallas had an amazing "mental library" allowing him to deliver a friendly quip for every scenario. Dallas truly enjoyed people and regularly made friends of strangers on a daily basis.
During his life, he developed a passion for traveling, especially to Hawaii with Dorothy. In 1982, they purchased a beautiful 40' Panda sailboat and moored and sailed it on the Puget Sound. They traded in the boat for a motor home and took their lives on the road. Joining up with RV caravans, they traveled the Baja Peninsula and experienced Mexico. Dallas also enjoyed fly fishing, downhill snow skiing, and multi-kite flying. Dallas and Dorothy retired in 1989 and took off in their motor home to eventually travel to every state in the country.
Dallas and Dorothy have wonderful friends who shared in their adventures. Special mention is made to Stanley (deceased) and Judy Williams of Yuma, Arizona; Jimmy and Betty. Lou Anderson of Henderson, Nevada; Larry Gustafson of Portland; Rocky (deceased) and Beverly Hagen from Cove, Oregon; Charles (deceased) and Dolores Mortimer of Seattle; Sid and Teresa Jackson of Sarasota, Florida; Mel and Barbara Patterson of Fort Myers, Florida; Joe Rogers Jr. of San Francisco; Don and Diane Rutledge of Tucson, Arizona; Bill Inman of Medford; Jerry Hayes of Jacksonville; Wayne and Barbara Tarns of Medford; Rocky and Sandy Gregory of Medford; Tiny and Peggy Robertson of Medford; and Nicole and Zack (deceased) Smith of Grants Pass.
He is survived by four daughters, Patsy Marcy (Chris) of Tigard, Deanna Thompson (Marc) of Tigard, Julie Towry (Don) of Medford, and Kate Scus (Monte) of Shady Cove; 14 grandchildren, Lynzi Kiser (left), Andrew Pierson, Alexander Kutsche, Justin Towry (Allison), Kate Muvdi (Daniel); Jessica Kutsche, Marissa Towry, Alexandra Bauer, Kinzie Zuniga (Carlos); Jackson Batzer, Kandra Towry, Ashley Marchionese, Cody Crowsum, and Kylie Towiry; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., October 30, 2015 at the Eagle Point National Cemetery at 2763 Riley Road. The service will be officiated by Tiny Robertson.
