Charles A. (Chuck) Leahy
Charles A. "Chuck" Leahy, of Medford, passed away at his home on May 14, 2007. He was 73. His wife and son were by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Gerry, and their three children: Michael Leahy, of San Francisco, Patricia Leahy-Graff, of Eugene, Ore., and Sharon Mann of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; one nephew; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Raymond J. Leahy, Jr.
Chuck was born to Claire and Raymond J. Leahy in 1934. A third generation San Franciscan, he attended St. Ignatius High School and graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1955.
He became a lieutenant in the Navy, and in 1957, he married his best friend, Gerry Francis, his wife for nearly 50 years. He was subsequently stationed in Japan for three years, where he and Gerry welcomed the first of their three children, Michael.
In 1959, Chuck moved back to San Francisco to help run the family business, the R.J. Leahy Co.; there, he and Gerry welcomed two daughters, Trish in 1960 and Sharon in 1964.
In 1968, he moved his family to Medford, Ore., where he became a real estate broker.
Chuck was a very active member of the real estate community, serving on several boards and committees. He was Realtor of the Year in 1980, and President of the Board of Realtors in 1983.
He was an avid sports fan and possessed a keen sense of humor that he held right up until the end of his days.
In September of this year, he and Gerry would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Chuck kept in touch with many friends from grammar school, high school, and college. He will be dearly missed by all.
According to his wishes, no services will be held. Interment will be at Eagle Point Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice.
