Bill Charles Sweat

Bill Sweat passed away Thursday morning October 6th with his wife of forty six years at his side. Bill was born to Laura Mae and Jasper Newton Sweat on January 9, 1930 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. Bill moved with his family to Shafter, California in 1939. After three years the family moved to Lone Pine, California. At an early age Bill started repairing cars. In 1949 Bill married Caroline Hancock. They had three children, Susan, Bill and Shari. That marriage ended in divorce. In 1965 Bill married Margo E. Slenk of Holland, MI. They adopted two infant girls, Jaime Rae and Jana Lynn. Bill worked in the auto repair business for 47 years. He was very well known as an expert body and fender repair man specializing in auto paint ng. He owned a body shop,. garage and service station in Lone Pine, CA. until he sold the business in 1989. Bill and Margo moved to Southern Oregon in 1991. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Laura Sweat, a sister, Mary Ann and two brothers, Clayton and Donald Sweat. Bill is survived by his wife Margo Sweat of Medford, daughters, Susan Joseph and Shari Valdon of Lone Pine, CA, Jamie Sweat of Medford, OR and Jana Wagner of Wimer, OR. and son Bill Sweat of Vacaville, CA, three brothers, four sisters, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service for Bill Sweat will be held Friday November 4, 2011, 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be in memory of Bill Sweat to the American Red Cross or a charity of your choice.
