Bertha King Honeycutt, age 97 years, went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 9, 2017. She was born July 19, 1920 in Rankin. OK to Abner & Laura(Dare) King. Bertha accepted Christ at the early age of ten. She and her family worshiped in churches wherever they lived. Bertha had a wonderful and interesting life. She was blessed with good parents and six sisters. Her twin, Bessie was her childhood playmate and trusted confidant throughout the years.
Soon after high school graduation(which she was valedictorian) Bertha married her childhood sweetheart Fred Theron Honeycutt. In 1941 she, Fred and infant son(Theron) moved to Oildale, CA. After the war started they moved to Los Angeles. There she worked for Douglas Aircraft, North American Aviation and then 17 years with TRW. During these years she gave birth to a daughter(Lois), and Bessie who lived next door was on call if needed.
She was always interested in furthering her education. For many years she attended community colleges receiving her Associate of Arts degree in 1978. Bertha's last years were spent near her son and daughter-in-law in Vancouver, WA.
Bertha is survived by her son; Theron(Kathleen) Honeycutt, Vancouver, WA, daughter Lois(Edward) Bernard of Medford, OR, 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford, OR beside Fred who passed in 1999.
