THE REVEREND ALBERT G. EDWARDS III
Albert G. Edwards III, 84, passed away on August 9th, 2011 at his home in Medford, Oregon. Al was born of missionary parents on May 9, 1927 in Baghdad, Iraq. Educated at home until age 11, he later attended private schools in St. Louis, MO and Sao Paulo, Brazil. After serving a year in the Navy and graduating from Yale University, he married Polly McKinley of St. Louis in 1949. He received his Bachelor of Divinity from Westminister Theological Seminary in 1952, and for forty years pastored churches in New Jersey, Portland, Oregon and Billings, Montana. Al loved to tinker in his workshop, find treasures in thrift shops, and work on his computer. A ham radio operator for over fifty years he also enjoyed his membership in various Amateur Radio Clubs. Al was known for his wit, ready smile, and a servant's heart. His passion in life was to tell people about the Saving Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Polly; siblings Ben Edwards, David Edwards and Peggy Barker; numerous nieces and nephews; children, Lucy (Jay) Milojevich, Cathy Percich, Peggy (Steve) Hubley and Tad (Mary) Edwards, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 2000 Oakwood Dr., Medford, OR.
